a toxic week

our project was due last friday, and we expected the database to be ready monday last week. but our very kind db person in seattle gave it to us friday. the deadline cant be moved so we have to squeeze in work for a supposedly 5-working day into one or two days at the most. haay naku.. as expected, there are still open issues not yet resolved till yesterday. changes to specs are still made today. this is what you call fast-development *lolz* it's a good thing that my team is not like the 'showbiz' team, thanks to God :)

nagkasakit ang mommy ng nakaraang biyernes. noong sabado ay nagpunta kami sa ospital. dun ay ininjectionan sya ng duvine (spell check) at dahil sa epekto ng gamot ay panandalian syang nakatulog. mga 930 na ng gabi yun. nang sya ay magising ay mabigat ang kanyang katawan at hindi sya makakilos. mga 12 ng hatinggabi ay gusto na nyang umuwi bagama't nanghihina pa rin sya. mabuti na lang at malapit lang ang kapilya, at maaasahan ang mga SCAN na tumupad sa gabing yun, tinulungan nila kami at inihatid sa aming tahanan. linggo ay nagpunta ang kapatid ko upang samahan ang aking ina habang ako ay tumutupad at sumasamba. maraming salamat at kahit paano ay hindi Nya kami pinababayaan. sa kasalukuyan ay nagpapalakas na lang ang aking ina.

i've been feeling sick for the 2nd week now, and finally took a day off from work yesterday. ironically, it was my 1st monthsary here at work.. haaay... para kasing nananadya ang kapitbahay namin, magvideoke ba naman magdamag ng wednesday e samba ako ng thurs kaya ayun, puyat ang beauty ko. 2nd week ng ganito ang ginagawa.. di ba may batas na bawal ng mag ingay at mambulahaw ng kapitbahay pag past 9pm na? haay life.. kaya heto, my immune system is down again, my sinusitis is attacking me again, haaay... acchhoooo!

Jeepneys to cut fares by P.50 starting Feb. 10

SOME 40,000 jeepneys in Metro Manila will cut fares by 50 centavos from Feb. 10 to 17 to offer the public some form of relief amid increasing commodity prices, according to transport groups and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

From Friday this week to Friday next week, commuters will only pay a minimum jeepney fare of P7 instead of P7.50.
The temporary fare cut is a special feature in the celebration of the first-ever Jeepney Week in Metro Manila.

The 50-centavo fare cut may become permanent in March if diesel prices stabilize at about P32 a liter, said LTFRB Chair Maria Elena Bautista.

But jeepney groups said that if diesel prices hit P35 a liter, they may ask for a P1 to P1.50 increase in minimum fares.

corporate acronyms

my first telecon with this company was held yesterday at 9am philippine time, 5pm seattle time. it was ok, after some introductions, we discussed the upcoming projects to be done here. then, after the telecon, scott, sir kit, james and i have a wrapping-up meeting, where we also talked about some of the common acronyms used here. WSI which is used largely means Web System Interface, though I always referred to this as GUI or graphical user interface before. Scott used to work at Intel and they have their TLA database where TLA stands for Three-Letter Acronym. then, they also have GOST meetings and SNAFU situations. For the meaning of these terms? just ask me privately :p
